What is Conquer The Gauntlet?

Conquer The Gauntlet is a family-owned obstacle course race company based in Oklahoma. Its current event is CTG Tulsa, held at 181 Ranch in Bixby, Oklahoma.

The course is 4 miles long with more than 25 large obstacles, and the organisers stress it is not a mud run or a 5K with a few walls. Waves start every 15 minutes through the day and participants choose their time slot. To be ranked as an overall champion, racers must run in the first (elite/competitive) wave and complete every obstacle, repeating failed attempts as often as needed; those competing for overall places wear a cloth belt provided at the start. Later open waves allow runners to move on from an obstacle. There is a kids' course for ages 12 and under, and group pricing for teams. The event suits fit runners who want challenging, upper-body-heavy obstacles, while open waves give newer racers a way in.

What is True Grit?

True Grit is an Australian-owned obstacle course race created by members of the Australian special forces and designed for everyday Australians. Events have been held in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia; upcoming races include Melbourne (Wildwood) and Sydney (Lower Portland).

The main courses are Half Grit, about 5 km, and Full Grit, about 10 km, with military-inspired obstacles that involve running, crawling and climbing through mud and water. The brand has also run 15 km and 30 km events and a 24-hour enduro in NSW. Minimum ages are 12 for Half Grit and 16 for Full Grit. Runners can enter solo, including a dedicated wave for solo entrants, or as gym and group teams, with a group discount for teams of ten or more. The organisers say it suits racers of all ages and fitness levels, with the 10 km course being the tougher test.
