The Hybrid Games Newcastle 29 May 2027

Newcastle's round of the Hybrid Games falls on 29 May 2027, the second stop of the 2027 UK season after Liverpool. It is an indoor fitness race held at an arena or exhibition venue, where the running loop wraps around ten workout stations so the whole race is visible from the sidelines.

The test is ten 600 m runs, each followed by a functional station, with a 200 m sprint to finish. The stations, in order of the organiser's list, are an air bike, wall balls, a 1,000 m row, burpee broad jumps, dumbbell snatches, weighted lunges, a farmers carry, a sled pull, a 1,000 m SkiErg and a sled push, with men's and women's loads. Every station is judged, chip timing records every split, and there is no official cut-off time.

Entries are open as individuals or pairs. Waves are small, around 20 to 30 athletes, and the season leaderboard awards points by finishing position within each age group, so a strong Newcastle result sets up the rest of the year. The format suits athletes who are comfortable with both running and loaded movements and want a judged race; pairs is the easier introduction. Register on the official Hybrid Games site, where venue details are confirmed.
